L3 Statistics: "Linear programming" module

The basic mathematics of optimal solutions

Course Overview

In this course the Desmos computer software is used to graph linear constraints in order to find the optimal solution to practical situations. For example, what quantities of hand-made and machine-made chocolate are needed to maximise profit? This also involves the formation of linear equations and the substitution of values into optimisation formulas.

Kelvin ha been an online teacher, teaching Physics for OtagoNet/NetNZ, since it started in 2002. Interests include as a volunteer firefighter, an ambulance officer and supporting an outdoor education centre in the East Matukituki (Mt Aspiring National Park). Kelvin is a part-time teacher of Mathematics, Physics & OE at the Tokomairiro. My hometown is Naseby, 2000 feet above worry level. The Maniototo is a high-country plain, through which both the Central Otago Rail Trail & the Taieri River meander. I work in Milton, South Otago, living at the Fire Station.
