Using Construction and Mechanical Technologies

Course Overview

The level 2 DVC course builds on skills and techniques developed at level 1. You have the opportunity to personalise your course by choosing to undertake either; a Spatial or Product design full year design portfolio. Separate spatial or product design scenarios will be provided. You will select a combination of standards (totalling 16 or more credits) to enable a personalised course that best suits your strengths and preferences; ie a course which is either; predominantly board & Tee square work (CAD is a recommended option) or a course which is focussed more towards sketching (ideology & design development work).

  • Researching

  • Ideology sketching

  • Conceptual design work

  • Client/stakeholder feedback at all stages

  • Development of designs

  • Final design presentation

  • Testing and evaluation

Situation identification/analysis, research and inquiry
Solution exploration, ideology and conceptual design sketching of client consulted design solutions with attention paid to visually communicated detailed technical design features, aesthetics and functionality embedded within your design ideas.

Technology
It would be an advantage to have taken a previous course in any of these subject areas: Art/DVC/Design and Textiles. Be creative and self managed. To have access and be able to use a sewing machine and overlocker (Textiles Prototype option)
