NCEA L3 German
In this course, students will move beyond discussing themselves and others, and explore current issues that are important to wider society. We learn how to give opinions, agree, and disagree about topics that are relevant to our community, and compare and contrast how these issues are perceived in Germany and New Zealand. These topics can be adapted and directed by the students so that we cover the aspects that are of most interest to them.
Topics covered include:
The pros and cons of being a teenager here in New Zealand as opposed to being a teenager growing up in Germany. Future employment prospects.
The differences between the way technology is used in Germany and in New Zealand. The positive and negative impacts of technology use in education. How language teaching and learning benefit from technology.
Daily life in the different eras. Different approaches to education and schooling.
Cultural events, experiences and impressions. Traditional festivals in Germany and in New Zealand.
