L2 Mathematics - full year (KA)

Develop reasoning & an ability to formulate and apply mathematical strategies to solve problems.

Course Overview

This course focuses on the Mathematics strands of the Mathematics and Statistics Curriculum. Mathematics can be defined as the study of patterns, order and structure. A course in Level 2 Mathematics equips students for studies in most other areas of life. Studying Mathematics at this level develops reasoning, an ability to formulate and apply strategies, and to solve problems The first semester of this course will use internal standards in Coordinate Geometry, Graphs and Using Systems of Equations to apply these methods in solving problems. A good understanding of the algebra in each of these topics will contribute to the external standard in Algebra which will be studied in Term 2 and revised in Term 4. The second semester of this course will cover the remaining two external standards. Applying Calculus Methods in solving problems gives students an introduction to the whole field of Calculus. Applying Probability Methods in solving problems introduces students to the wide and varied field of Probability. This course will lead to studying Calculus or Mathematics at Level 3.
