Course Overview

Course Description:

The Classical world of Greece and Rome; empires, gods and goddesses, architecture, philosophy, the stories, the people that emerged and the way they have shaped the very world we live in today. The eruption of Pompeii, Perseus and Medusa, the rise of Octavian/Augustus who oversaw the transformation of Rome from Republic to Empire, the stories of Mark Antony and Cleopatra are just some of the amazing themes of the Classical period we will explore.

  • Classical Greece;  Myths and Legends, Greek Vases and Painting

  • Rome becoming an Empire; The emergence of Augustus, Mt Vesuvius eruption, art and architecture in Pompeii
