Business Studies explores key concepts organisations use to make decisions and
improve operations for sustainability and success. Designed for Year 12 students,
this course uses a thematic approach to connect topics with real-world applications,
helping students build practical knowledge and valuable skills for further study or the
workforce.

Kia ora, my name is Wilma Madelo. I am an overseas-trained teacher from the Philippines with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Sciences. I have been teaching Social Sciences since 2012. I moved to New Zealand in December 2019, gained my NZ teaching registration in 2021, and began relief teaching in 2022. In 2024, I secured a full-time permanent position at Ashburton College, where I currently teach Year 9 Social Studies and Year 11 Commerce, Year 12 Business Studies, and Money Management. I am married with two children, Ethan and Chloe. I love travelling, cooking, gardening, watching movies, and playing board games—especially chess!
