A thematic approach where you will learn about aspects of Business
Business Studies explores key concepts organisations use to make decisions and
improve operations for sustainability and success. Designed for Year 12 students,
this course uses a thematic approach to connect topics with real-world applications,
helping students build practical knowledge and valuable skills for further study or the
workforce.
Learning Objectives
• Investigate the application of motivation theory within a business.
• Develop skills in market research and analysis.
• Understand the dynamics of a product-based business through a Market Day
scenario.

Kia ora e te whānau! I am Mrs. Phillips (Saima Kasim-Phillips), your Teacher this year for L2 Business Studies. About me: My whānau are originally from India and I grew up in Dubai, UAE. Aotearoa NZ has been home for the last 18 years and I call myself a very proud Kiwi Indian. Tāmaki Makaurau is home. This is my fourth year teaching and I teach both Commerce and Mathematics. Prior to being a Teacher, I spent over 15 years of my career in Human Resources & Recruitment, working in the UAE, UK, Australia and NZ. I am also an active volunteer for an organisation called Dress for Success Auckland, where I work with women assisting them with career/employment coaching. In my spare time, I enjoy Bollywood dancing, reading, and watching tv. I also enjoy travelling and exploring cheap eats in Auckland.
