Korean Studies (Korean Language and Culture)

Course Overview

The aim of this course is to equip students with basic spoken and written skills in modern Korean through the use of authentic multimedia materials and stimulating activities on topics relevant to students’ lives. Throughout the semester, students will be exposed to a learning environment enriched with spoken Korean. Intercultural Virtual Exchange and Planning a school Exchange with a school in Korea gives students the opportunity to speak with and learn from each other and offers a platform where students can further develop their skills in intercultural competence.

Sue Kim has been teaching Korean, Japanese, and Digital Technology in New Zealand for over 20 years. She is originally from Busan, Korea, but has been living in New Zealand since 1996. Ms. Kim is a Martial Arts expert and is experienced in Kung Fu, Tae-Kwon-Do, and is currently training in Karate on a regular basis as well as competing, judging, and refereeing at National competitions. She also loves tramping, walking, and running.

This course is a continuation of Intermediate KOREAN. However students are dealt with on a case by case.
