L3 Computer Science & Programming - Full Year

Explore advanced programming techniques and computerscience concepts

Course Overview

In this course students will have the opportunity to develop a significant personal programming project as well as understand an area of Computer Science in detail. The course is targeted heavily towards programming and requires hard work. It is very rewarding, though and many previous students have gone on to study this subject at university or polytechnic. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

(1) Understand and use programming techniques and conventions such as methods, classes, data structures and error handling.

(2) Manage themselves and use recognised tools for managing a complex programming project including tools for planning the project, managing workflow and versioning of code.

(3) Understand and explain an area of Computer Science taken from: complexity and tractability, computer vision, big data, computer graphics, formal languages, network communication protocols.
