Course Overview
“Ambition and Resilience.”
This English course will focus on the themes of ambition and resilience. Through our study of poetry, short stories and film we will explore characteristics of these themes and apply it to our own world view.
Content:
- Poetry: Maya Angelou, Wilfred Owen
- Film study: Gattaca; Hidden Figures
- Narrative / formal writing
This course consists of three assessments (Writing folio, independent reading responses,and information literacy) totalling 14 internal credits. This equates to Literacy for University Entrance.
Two external examinations are offered, worth 4 credits each.
Students are given the option of choosing the significant connections assessment, based on textual / thematic study in class. Students need to opt into this assessment in Term 2.
